Prison staff promptly notified the Prince Albert detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), which has since launched an investigation and issued a warrant for Halkett’s arrest.

Halkett is serving a sentence of 2 years, 9 months, and 3 days for a series of offenses, including break and enter with intent (non-dwelling), possession of stolen property valued over $5,000 (three counts), motor vehicle theft, evading a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, mischief involving property over $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, possessing a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, failure to comply with release conditions, and failure to attend court.

The RCMP urges anyone with information on Halkett’s whereabouts to contact local authorities immediately. Public assistance is crucial in ensuring the safe apprehension of the escaped inmate.
