Canada's Cole Beaudoin Ejected for Kneeing in World Juniors Clash with Czechia

In a high-stakes quarter-final matchup at the World Junior Championship, Canada’s Cole Beaudoin was handed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for kneeing Czechia’s Petr Sikora. The incident occurred just over nine minutes into the first period.

Beaudoin attempted to deliver a powerful hit on Sikora but miscalculated his timing, resulting in a knee-on-knee collision. Sikora was left writhing in pain on the ice for several minutes before being helped off by medical staff.

After reviewing the play, the referees assessed Beaudoin with a major penalty and ejected him from the game. Despite the setback, Canada managed to level the score at 1-1 with a short-handed goal during the resulting power play.

This match marks the fifth consecutive meeting between Canada and Czechia at the World Juniors, highlighting a growing rivalry. Last year, Czechia knocked Canada out in the quarter-finals, but Canada previously edged Czechia 3-2 in overtime to claim gold in 2023.
